2. Data processed to provide the website and create log files
a. What data is processed and for what purpose?
Each time our website is accessed, data that may allow identification is temporarily stored. The following data is collected:
– Date and time of access
– IP address
– Hostname of the accessing device
– Website from which our website was accessed
– Websites accessed via our website
– Page visited on our website
– Whether the request was successful
– Volume of data transferred
– Browser type and version used
– Operating system
Temporary storage of this data is necessary to deliver the website during a visit. Further storage in log files is carried out to ensure the website functions correctly and to safeguard the security of our IT systems. This purpose also constitutes our legitimate interest in processing this data.
b. What is the legal basis for this processing?
This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
c. Are there other recipients of personal data besides the controller?
The website is hosted on WordPress. The host receives the data listed above as a processor.
d. How long is the data stored?
Data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected. For website delivery, this is the case once the respective session has ended. Log files are kept directly and exclusively accessible to administrators for up to 24 hours. After that, they are only available indirectly through the reconstruction of backup tapes and are permanently deleted after a maximum of four weeks.
3. Data subject rights
a. Right of access
You may request information under Art. 15 GDPR about the personal data we process about you.
b. Right to object
You have a right to object for reasons arising from your particular situation (see Section II below).
c. Right to rectification
If the information concerning you is no longer accurate, you may request its rectification under Art. 16 GDPR. If your data is incomplete, you may request that it be completed.
d. Right to erasure
You may request the erasure of your personal data under Art. 17 GDPR.
e. Right to restriction of processing
Under Art. 18 GDPR you have the right to request restriction of the processing of your personal data.
f. Right to lodge a complaint
If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection law, you have the right under Art. 77(1) GDPR to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority of your choice. This includes the supervisory authority responsible for the controller: the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit), https://datenschutz.hessen.de/service/beschwerde-uebermitteln.
g. Right to data portability
Where the requirements of Art. 20(1) GDPR are met, you have the right to receive data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in performance of a contract, and to have it transferred to yourself or a third party. The collection of data to provide the website and the storage of log files are strictly necessary for operating the website. They are therefore not based on consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR or on a contract under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, but are justified under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Accordingly, the requirements of Art. 20(1) GDPR are not met in this respect.
II. Right to object under Art. 21(1) GDPR
You have the right, for reasons arising from your particular situation, to object at any time to the processing of your personal data carried out on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The controller will then no longer process the personal data, unless it can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. The collection of data to provide the website and the storage of log files are strictly necessary for operating the website.
